In existence since 1976, the North Carolina Principals and Assistant Principals’ Association is the preeminent organization and state voice for principals, assistant principals and aspiring school leaders.
NCPAPA was established with the firm belief that strong positive administrative leadership is the determining factor in the quality of a child’s public education in North Carolina. Today NCPAPA represents 5,000 members from across the state and is the state's primary contractor for leadership development.
As one voice we aim to promote excellence in educational leadership for the State of North Carolina.
NCVPS is offering resources and support for all NC public schools. NCVPS is hosting a series of webinars, NCVPS Talks, which will dive into tips and tricks for successful transitioning from face-to-face learning to virtual learning. Additionally, NCVPS is offering to accept transfer students at no cost to the districts into any NC Virtual course. A transfer student is one who is currently in the class with a f2f teacher but cannot attend due to the closures. This is a great opportunity for seniors who need to finish their coursework for graduation. Lastly, NC Virtual has 20+ online courses in the Canvas Commons for districts to use. These will only be viable for districts that use Canvas. Learn more about these opportunities by visiting their website: https://ncvps.org
The Friday Institute of Educational Innovation's Professional Learning and Leading Collaborative (PLLC), in partnership with NCPAPA, is hosting a discussion series, FI Connects: Learn, Share, and Be Together. This solution-based forum is specifically designed for school leaders during this transition to distance and remote learning and teaching. Role-alike discussions for principals, district leaders, and coaches (ITFs) will be on Tuesdays at 2 pm ET; and for district leaders and elementary, middle, and high school teachers weekly on Wednesdays at 2 pm ET during the coronavirus crisis.

School. For me, the word conjures mental images often associated with education: classrooms, book bags, a yellow school bus. We expect schools to educate our children. But it’s hard to educate children whose needs aren’t being met at home.
We hear a lot about how every child in a school building is more than a student. They’re a whole human being with wants, needs, desires, histories, goals, and dreams. As it turns out, those who sit in the principal’s chair meet all the same criteria.
Research indicates that the teacher is the most important factor in a student’s success, and the most important factor in a teacher’s success is likely the principal. Over the last five years, a lot has happened for principals in North Carolina
